welcome to the community

Get direct contact with expert pilots from all over the world — captains, instructors, and pilots with incredible experience.

They’ll join us in live classes where you can ask them anything: career advice, aircraft systems, real-world procedures, or simply how they handle certain situations in the cockpit.

No filters, no pretending, no “you should already know this.” Just honest, practical instruction from people who have been there, done that, and are excited to pass it on.

a safe space to ask any question

Have you ever had a question in the cockpit, but you didn’t ask it?

Maybe it feels too basic. Maybe you don’t want the person beside you to know you don’t know something.

So you just keep quiet.

I’ve been there. And every pilot I spoke to while building the How to Fly Academy has been there too.

A PRACTICAL COURSE ON FLYING AIRPLANES

This is a library of all the knowledge you need to fly, and I don't mean it's a question bank, this is the practical side of flying. The actual, fun and nerve wrecking thing that we pilots do.

Here, you will learn it all.

phase 1: aircraft general knowledge

Learn the aircraft: Wings, Power, Speed and a way to control it all.

We show you what you need to know about airplanes to fly them.

The theory is for the books, this is all about hands on actions.

phase 2: flying the aircraft

Learn to fly.

Use the levers and moving parts from inside the cockpit to control the aircraft in the air.

Fly straight ahead, and learn how to trim the aircraft, use the power and control column to go up and down.

In this phase you will learn basic maneuvers, takeoff, landings, and what to do when things go sideways: recover stalls and flat spins.

phase 3: visual navigation

Learn to fly following rivers, cities and railways.

If you can navigate, you will be able to takeoff from one airport and land in another one.

phase 4: navigation by instruments

This is how you will probably fly throughout your entire career, navigating without trusting your eyes, without looking outside and focusing on a needle in the cockpit.

It's complex, but you will learn to love it.

aircraft ratings & systems

Each aircraft is a world on its own. But they are all flying machines after all.

Learn the most common systems like the Basic T, FMS and glass cockpits, (there is a special section for our friend the G1000).

Learn the specific types, from piston aircraft (C172, PA28...) to complex turbofan (A320, B737, PC24...) and everything in between.

With videos, flows and our own checklists, you will be ready to fly the aircraft before even meeting her.

flight planning

Learn to perform an efficient flight plan, one that is complete, safe and within legal boundaries.

But do it quickly, nobody likes to spend hours planning the flight.

We will give you the most efficient way to do it, I spent years perfecting quick plans, and believe me, I made a few mistakes...

Don't let that happen to you, follow our guidelines, and you will be safe.

regulation updates

We will keep you posted, or someone from the community will.

Our team can't really catch all the regulation updates the second they are published, but a entire community can.

A community led conversation will warn you as soon as new publications are aired.

what's that red light?

Handle emergencies with full control and calmness.

We must be ready for everything, and systems fail. Learn to check the MEL, perform quick actions under stress and learn the basics of proficient emergency handling.

expert led sessions

We will bring new faces every month. We will bring pilots with thousands of hours in the cockpit, and you will be able to talk to them. Join the group calls as we discuss subjects, learn tips from masters and join them in the simulator as they fly from one airport to another.

LIFETIME ACCESS OFFER

We are still perfecting the platform, so we are giving beta access for now, and for those of you who decide to join, we thank you for believing in this project.

People entering this summer will receive a very large discount as a gesture from us: 99€ for lifetime access.

After 1st of September 2025, the price will rise to 39€ per month.

★★★★★

"IFR easily explained from the basics to the highest proficiency. Perfect for everyone, from non-profesional aviation lovers wanting to understand real aircraft operations and modern navigation, to commercial pilots with huge aviation background and experience who intend to review and refresh their knowledge in many areas from a very fresh approach."

Andrew Munwall
★★★★★

"I think this book will fit every pilot. It explains IFR in a really simple, approachable way and makes technical aspects of IFR as flight planning or approaches easy. It comes really handy to review details as everything is there. Fully recommended."

Colin Anderson
★★★★★

How to Fly IFR is a well-structured and accessible book that does a great job explaining the practical aspects of IFR flying. It presents complex topics in a clear, engaging way, without becoming too heavy. The section on holdings is especially strong—simple, well-explained, and highly relevant for new pilots. It's a valuable resource and an excellent starting point for those beginning their IFR journey.

I received a copy of the book in PDF format, and it's an elegant summary of what you need to know for good IFR planning. The explanations are very concise and easy to understand, and the graphics and drawings are truly a work of art. A beautiful work that feels more like a story than a manual, and the illustrations make it very easy to understand.

Handle departures without a Standard Instrument Departure (SID) route.

Learn to execute omnidirectional departures and join controlled IFR routes from uncontrolled airports.

"Congratulations to the author, an excellent book as a refresher for what I forgot from when I did the IFR. It would have been very helpful for me to study since flight schools' manuals leave much to be desired. They should learn from this. Thank you!!"

"Amazing guide. Every pilot should have one of this in his flight bag. Congrats!"

"Seriously, if you're on your way to a career with your PPL locked up, grab this book.

Don't wait, you'll regret it if you do.

Written by masters of the craft, easy to comprehend with plenty of illustrations. Wish this was available when I first started in the 1970s. Even if you have your instrument rating, this is a great refresher.”
